CSTO mission begins its work in Armenia

1 Ukraine On 16th of September the Ukrainian forces launched a missile attack on the building of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region. The total number of casualties is still unknown. The local authorities reported that there were no casualties among the officials. The head of the local civil-military administration, Sergei Eliseev, wasn’t injured. Most of the casualties were random civilians - the civil-military administration reported. The local authorities added that the missile attack was a "planned terrorist act, organized by the political-military leadership of Ukraine". A similar attack took place in the LPR as well. The head of the LPR’s Prosecutor General’s Office, Sergei Gorenko, died during an explosion in the building. His deputy, Ekaterina Steglenko, died as well - an assistant of the Minister of the Interior Affairs of the LPR, Vitaly Kiselev, reported. The explosion in the building, located in the city center, took place at noon. The police blocked the area of the event. Emergency and rescue services are working on site. 2 Kyrgyzstan - Tajikistan The presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon, agreed to pull the servicemen away from the borderline. The parties agreed that the chairman of the State Committee for the National Security of Kyrgyzstan, Kamchibek Tashiev, and his Tajik counterpart, Saimumin Yatimov, will work in the area. A commission will be set up to investigate the circumstances and the cause of the incident. The clashes on the border of the two countries began on the morning of 16th of September. According to the ’’Sputnik-Kyrgyzstan’’ news agency - 15-years-old Elzada Mannanova, from the village of Dostuk, died from a shrapnel wound during the shelling. Such conflicts on the borderline take place because both countries have yet to finish the delimitation and demarcation of some sections. 3 The Special Military Operation The Russian forces destroyed an HQ and a training base of a Ukrainian separate special operations center "South", located near the town of Ochakov - Igor Konashenkov reported. The Russian air forces carried out precision air strikes against the positions of the 28th Ukrainian Motorized Infantry Brigade, located near the city of Nikolaev. It has disrupted the crossings, built by the Ukrainian forces from the right bank to the left bank of the river, near the borders of the Kherson region. The Special Forces of both countries practiced patrolling, ambush reconnaissance, and combat operations. 5 Uzbekistan During a meeting of Vladimir Putin with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, during the SCO summit, the Russian president stated that Moscow will do everything possible in order to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, even though Ukraine refuses to negotiate. Vladimir Putin stated that he knows Modi’s position on the situation in Ukraine, his concerns, as well as his statements on the issue. Putin expressed his regret that the Ukrainian leadership announced its refusal to negotiate, and expressed a desire to achieve their goals by military means. On 16th of September, the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization signed the ’Samarkand Declaration’ after the summit. The document announced an intention to increase the cooperation in defense and security matters. Representatives of the SCO condemned the terrorist attacks in the world, and expressed their deep concern about the threat to security that comes from terrorism, separatism, and extremism. 6 Armenia News about the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Vladimir Putin had a late-night telephone conversation with the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan - the Russian presidential press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, reported. A mission of the CSTO begins its work in Armenia. The chief of staff, Anatoly Sidorov, who heads the group, visited the Russian FSB’s border guard point in Armenia.
