Escalation of the situation in Donbass || Weekly News, 25th of September, 2021
1 Yemen The offensive of the "Ansar Allah" rebels in the Shabwa province continues. New successes and battles are reported on the southern flank of Marib. After the capture of the regional center of Harib, the movement "Ansar-Allah" continued the offensive along the highway towards Marib. The Khadists tried to re-capture Harib, and remove the threat of encirclement. Their counter-attacks were unsuccessful. The Saudi Arabian Air Force started attacking the ’’Ansar Allah’’ rebels at Harib in order to slow down their advances. Currently the offensive of the rebels, despite the reserves of the Hadists from Marib and their counter-attacks in the area of operation, continues. The fighting is reported to be taking place near the Khushiyan military camp. If "Ansar-Allah" manages to occupy the camp, and reach the crossroads south of Marib - the rebels could appear at the south of the provincial capital in the near future. 2 Donbass A significant escalation on the frontline in Donbass has led to an increase in the number of civilians killed in the DPR and the LPR during the shelling - the Chairperson of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine, Matilda Bogner, stated - the news website ’’Donbass Today’’ quoted her words on Friday. According to her, the situation in Donbass has escalated significantly since the start of 2021. Intensification of the hostilities and the constant shelling by the Ukrainian troops lead to an increase in casualties among the civilians of the DPR and the LPR. "From 1st of February to 31st of July, 2021, 62 civilian casualties were recorded. 15 dead and 47 wounded, which is 51% more than in the previous 6 months" - end of quote. 3 Algeria - Morocco Algeria closed its airspace to any aviation of the neighboring state of Morocco. The Government of Algeria has announced that the airspace closure will start immediately. The decision was taken at a meeting of the country’s Security Council, chaired by the President Abdelmajid Tebun, who is also the Minister of Defense. The reason was "the on-going provocations and hostile actions of Morocco". Algeria cut off the diplomatic relations with Morocco on 24th of August. The border between Algeria and Morocco has been officially closed since 1994. The traditionally difficult relationship between Algeria and Morocco has recently re-emerged over the Western Sahara dispute. A large desert area is almost 80% under the Moroccan control, but there is an independence movement supported by Algeria. There were 6 people on board. The rescuers stated the death of all crew members. The investigation team is investigating the cause of the disaster. Before the flight, the airplane was properly checked. The takeoff was carried out in a normal way, the crew didn’t report any malfunctions. 6 Sudan A coup d’etat near the capital of Sudan, Khartoum, was stopped. "On 21st of September the army was able to prevent a coup" - a military spokesman stated on the state TV. A large number of military equipment was present on the streets of Khartoum. The security forces blocked the main bridge connecting Khartoum with the city of Omdurman, on the other side of the Nile river. No detailed information was given about the people behind the coup, and their plans. They reportedly tried to take control of the state media premises, but they failed.
