Syria repels an Israeli missile attack
The Syrian air defenses repelled an Israeli air force missile attack - the ’SANA’ news agency reported. The airstrikes were launched at midnight from the Lebanese airspace on ground targets at south of Damascus, and in the central Syria. It was reported that the Syrian air defenses opened fire on air targets, and managed to hit several incoming missiles. As a result of the attack, only material damage was inflicted. The exact targets of the airstrikes weren’t mentioned in the report. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that as a result of an explosion under an armored car in the Syrian province of Hasakah - 1 Russian serviceman died from the injuries, and 3 more were hospitalized. The ministry clarified that the armored car was damaged by an IED, on 9th of June, while checking the patrol route of the Russian military police in the Hasakah province. 6 security servicemen died after a car explosion near a military base in Baghlan province, in north of Afghanistan. More than 10 people were injured - the TOLO News reported while citing their sources. The Taliban, reportedly, claimed the responsibility for the attack. The Baghdad International Airport was attacked on Wednesday evening. The attack was carried out with 3 UAVs - the press service of the Iraqi Security Directorate stated. Earlier, the mass media reported that the ’Victoria’ military camp, where some American troops are stationed, was attacked. There was no information about the casualties or destruction. 3 missiles hit the ’Balad’ Iraqi Air Force Base, north from Baghdad, where some Iraqi F-16 fighters, foreign specialists, and employees of a US private military company are stationed. Vladimir Putin signed the law on the denunciation of the ’Open Skies Treaty’. The document was published on the legal information website. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, listed the list of all violations of the Open Skies Treaty by the USA and the Western countries on her Telegram channel. She noted that the USA incited other participating states, especially Georgia, to violate the treaty with their statements and actions. The US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken stated that Washington will continue to study the issue of suspending the aid to Azerbaijan, including the military aid. Such decision was made due to the fact that the tension in the conflict zone in Nagorno-Karabakh still exists.
