the negotiations of Joe Biden and Xi Jinping || Спецвыпуск 20.03.2022
This is a special program from the ANNA NEWS, I am Constantine Reztsov. Today’s special is about the negotiations of Joe Biden and Xi Jinping. On 18th of March the US President Joe Biden and the Chinese President Xi Jinping, held a telephone conversation. One of the main topics was the Chinese relationship with Russia during the on-going Russian special operation aimed to de-militarize and de-nazify Ukraine. The USA are concerned about the Chinese unwillingness to join the anti-Russian campaign led by the collective West. As well as the possible Chinese help to Russia during the growing pressure from the sanctions. Before the negotiations, the high-ranking White House officials threatened China with tough sanctions if China helps Russia to bypass the restrictions, imposed on Moscow. China stated that China will pursue the independent policy, aimed mostly on their own interests. China doesn’t intend to act as an another tool in the hands of the West to put pressure on Russia. Xi Jinping explained during the conversation with Joe Biden that the USA and the NATO should engage in a dialogue with Russia due to the situation in Ukraine, and in order to reduce the Russian security concerns. He noted that all the parties need to work together to maintain a dialogue between Moscow and Kiev in order to resolve the situation. "The top priority is to continue the dialogue and negotiations, to prevent civilian casualties, to avoid a humanitarian crisis, and to reach a ceasefire as soon as possible" - he concluded. He mentioned that the mutual respect between the major powers, the rejection of the Cold War mentality and bloc confrontation, and the consistent construction of a balanced, effective, and sustainable system of global and regional security, are necessary in the long term. Xi Jinping mentioned the state of US-China relations, which, according to the press release, are once again "at a tipping point". Xi Jinping noted that instead of overcoming the problems, created in the US-Chinese relations by the Donald Trump’s administration, the actions of the current US administration only led to new complications. "It is especially dangerous that some people in the USA are sending false signals to the pro-Taiwan independence forces" - he stated and added that if the Taiwan issue won’t be properly resolved - it will have a devastating effect in the relations between the two countries. He expressed a hope that the USA will pay the needed attention to this matter. "The USA have misunderstood and misjudged the Chinese strategic intentions. China and the USA have had differences in the past, today, and in the future. The main task is to control and manage the differences. A sustainable relationship between China and the USA is beneficial to both sides" - he explained. Joe Biden said in return that the USA are ready to maintain a dialogue with China in order to prevent the escalation of the situation in Ukraine. Meanwhile, a senior official from the Joe Biden’s administration stated that Joe Biden made no demands during the negotiation. He only outlined the vision of the White House administration regarding the current situation in Ukraine, and outlined the consequences for the possible Chinese actions regarding the material support of Russia. The ANNA NEWS follows the events. Stay tuned.
