A significant part of Donbass has been liberated
The areas of the DPR and the LPR along the left bank of the Seversky Donets River are free - Sergei Shougu, the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, stated on a conference call. Svyatogorsk, Krasny Lyman, and 15 other towns are free by now. He added that by 7th of June, the Russian and the LPR forces hold 97% of the republic. Sergei Shoigu noted that the residential areas of the city of Severodonetsk have been completely liberated. The liberation of the industrial area of Severodonetsk and the nearby villages is still on-going. The offensive operation near the town of Popasnaya is escalating. The demining of the Mariupol seaport was completed - it is functioning normally by now, and it has received a few cargo ships. The seaport of Berdyansk has started its work. Vladimir Putin ordered to make the ports ready for the loading of grain. The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the largest such plant in Europe, which is also capable of generating up to 50% of all nuclear power generation in Ukraine, operates normally. The deputy head of the People’s Militia Department of the DPR previously stated the reason of the increased shelling of the residential areas of Donetsk. Recently the DPR forces managed to find areas of concentration of the Ukrainian servicemen and armor, after which those areas were hit. The Ukrainian forces chose to inflict a return fire on the residential areas of Donetsk. On 8th of June the Ukrainian forces have fired more than 90 large-caliber shells at the settlements of the DPR - the Joint Center for the Control over the Ceasefire reported. The Government House in Donetsk came under a massive Ukrainian artillery fire - the DPR representatives at the Joint Center for the Control and Coordination of the Ceasefire reported. At 14:40, six 155mm shells hit the city center. The mayor of the city stated that there were several hits on the Lenin Square. The city authorities urge all the residents of Donetsk to not leave their homes, unless absolutely necessary. On the morning, the Ukrainian nationalists shelled the city airport. 1 woman died in the town of Makeevka as a result of a massive attack with the use of MLRS ’Grad’. 34,000 people in the town of Gorlovka were cut off the grid. The filter station was damaged as well. Large-scale shelling of the city of Stakhanov in the LPR on 9th of June led to the death of 22 people. The DPR forces, supported by the Russian forces, liberated over 230 settlements in Donbass. The Territorial Defense HQ of the DPR reported that they are fighting for Slavyansk. The DPR reported that the Ukrainian forces are occupying civilian infrastructure and using the population as human shields. The spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense, Igor Konashenkov, reported that the Russian air force hit a training center for the foreign mercenaries in Ukraine. The center was located in the town of Novograd-Volinsky, in the Zhytomir region. The Investigative Committee of Transnistria reported that an UAV dropped 2 explosive devices on the peacekeeping forces. "An unknown UAV dropped 2 explosive devices, likely RGD-5 grenades, on the vehicle fleet of the reserve unit of the Transnistrian peacekeeping forces, near the village of Vladimirovka. The government of the Kurdish autonomy of the eastern Syria - the Syrian Democratic Forces - announced their readiness to cooperate with the Syrian government, led by Bashar al-Assad - the ’’Al-Mayadeen’’ reported while citing a statement from the SDF. According to the latest data, the decision to cooperate with Damascus was made due to the reports of the upcoming Turkish invasion of north of Syria. “We held an extra-ordinary meeting with the leaders of the military councils to discuss the latest events at the north and east of Syria, after the threat of a possible Turkish invasion of the region. We believe that any aggression will escalate the Syrian crisis. The occupation projects, including the recent threats from Turkey, are only a prologue to the division of Syria” - the SDF announced.
