Conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan
1 Armenia - Azerbaijan The Russian Foreign Ministry urged Azerbaijan and Armenia to not escalate the situation on the border, and to resolve all their disputes only via political and diplomatic means. The Russian Ministry is in a close contact with Baku and Yerevan. Armenia asked Russia to help resolve the situation. Moscow expects that the parties will respect the agreement on a ceasefire from 9 in the morning, 13th of September. The ceasefire was reached with a help of Russia. The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border escalated on the night from 12th to 13th of of September. Yerevan claims that the Azerbaijani forces opened fire on the Armenian territory. There are destructions in settlements. Dozens of people died. Baku stated that they prevented a large-scale sabotage. Supposedly the Armenian military planted landmines between the positions of the Azerbaijani forces, and on the supply routes. Baku also stated that they have losses. Vladimir Putin discussed the escalation with the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, via a phone - the Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stated and added that an intensive work is now underway on this matter. 2 Ukraine The Ukrainian presidential office has published a draft named "Kiev Security Agreement" - a draft document on international guarantees to Kiev. The presidential office added that the document was presented by the head of the office, Andrey Yermak, and the former NATO Secretary General, Anders Fog Rasmussen. Western specialists, former and current politicians, and scientists participated in the preparation of the draft treaty. Contrary to the earlier proposals, the Ukrainian document doesn’t consider a neutral status for Ukraine, or a participation of Russia as a guarantor of the Ukrainian security. It is proposed to conclude a binding Kiev agreement on the security matter between Ukraine and the guarantor countries. An alternative would be a set of two-sided agreements. The treaty will unite the USA, the UK, Australia, Germany, Italy, Canada, Poland, Turkey, France, countries of north, center, and south of Europe, and also the Baltics. Russia wasn’t listed among the possible participants. 3 America The US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, the US Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, plus some other US officials have been developing the "Kiev counter-offensive strategy" for months together with the Ukrainian officials - ’The New York Times’ reported. Supposedly, the Ukrainian forces initially began the counter-attack planning by an order of Vladimir Zelensky. They proposed a broad offensive in the south direction, in order to capture the city of Kherson and to cut off the city of Mariupol - ’The New York Times’ reported. Part of the Ukrainian military and American officials assumed that such plan would cost Ukraine too much in manpower. The Ukrainian high command decided to start sharing the details of their plans with the US and the British intelligence officials, and began asking them for an advice. Meanwhile Jake Sullivan spoke several times with the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, about the preparation of the counter-offensive. Mark Milley held conversations with high-ranking American military officials. The parties shared their intelligence and discussed the military assistance - ’The New York Times concluded. 4 Ukraine The Russian ministry of defense reported on 13th of September that over the past day, the Ukrainian forces lost over 800 servicemen and foreign mercenaries, killed and wounded, due to the Russian air-strikes on the Ukrainian deployment areas. The Russian air force hit the Ukrainian 95th Air Assault Brigade, stationed near the towns of Slavyansk and Konstantinovka, the Ukrainian 115th Mechanized Brigade, stationed near the town of Artemovsk, and the Ukrainian 53rd Mechanized Brigade, stationed near the town of Kurdyumovka. The Ukrainian 35th Marine Brigade, stationed near the town of Bereznegovatoe, the Ukrainian 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade, stationed near the village of Murahovka, in the Nikolaev region, the Ukrainian 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, stationed in the village of Balabino, in the Zaporozhye region, and the Ukrainian 14th Mechanized Brigade, stationed near the city of Kharkov, were hit. The Russian air, missile and artillery forces hit 20 Ukrainian command posts, 47 artillery units, as well as Ukrainian servicemen and combat vehicles in 152 areas. 5 Ukrainian ammo depots were destroyed as well. 5 Hungary The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, stated that the NATO shouldn’t escalate the conflict with Russia. According to him - this is one of the main tasks of the NATO. He added that the Hungarian servicemen must "act with the utmost responsibility" and prevent a direct clash between the NATO and Russia. Peter Szijjarto stated that in order to prevent the escalation of the conflict with Russia - the NATO must guarantee the security, sometimes even in a close contact with the Russian Forces. Earlier the Russian permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, stated that due to the indirect confrontation of the NATO with Russia - the risk of a direct clash is going up. 6 Iraq The Iraqi Army Command announced a start of a large-scale anti-terrorist operation, which will be carried out jointly by the police forces and the government militia units. The operation will be carried out in the province of Neinava, which was a stronghold of the ISIS forces. Military aviation and heavy armored vehicles are involved in the operation.
