Israel attacked Shia troops in Syria
1 Syria The ’Al Hadath’ TV reported that the Israeli Air Force attacked the command post of the Shia organization ’Hezbollah’, allied to the Syrian army. The attacks were carried out in the Syrian province of Quneitra, 40 kilometers south of Damascus. There was no information about the casualties among the ’Hezbollah’. 2 The USA The Russian Embassy in the USA commented on the recent report of the Inspector General of the US Defense Department. The report claimed that the actions of the Russian military in north-east of Syria violate the deconflicting mechanism. "The US military presence in Syria is illegal. The USA don’t have any rights to criticize the legitimate actions of the Russian troops, operating in Syria by the invitation of the Syrian government" - the Russian embassy stated on Twitter. 3 Armenia The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, met with the Armenian Foreign Minister, Ara Ayvazyan. The ministers noted that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh got significantly better. Ara Ayvazyan noted that the presence of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh prevented the further violence against the locals. Ara Ayvazyan added that the involvement of the international organizations in the reconstruction of Karabakh shouldn’t be politicized. He underlined that the main issue is still the return of all Armenian PoWs, held by Azerbaijan. 4 The USA - Afghanistan The Pentagon spokesman John Kirby announced that the US military will be able to continue to provide some support to the Afghan military after the US troops leave Afghanistan. According to him, the commander of the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, Lieutenant-General Scott Miller, considers the possibility of the on-going support for the Afghan military in a way Scott Miller considers it necessary. John Kirby refused to give any details. 5 Ukraine The US State Secretary, Anthony Blinken, has arrived in Kiev to meet with the Ukrainian President, Vladimyr Zelensky. The parties discussed the ’Nord Stream 2’ gas pipeline, the conflict in Donbass and Crimea. Vladimir Zelenskyy stated that after the negotiations he thanked the USA for the anti-Russian sanctions. During the meeting in Kiev, the parties discussed in detail the issues of the security in the Black and Azov Seas. Vladimir Zelenskiy believes that Russia maintains a large military presence on the border with Ukraine. In his opinion, it means the presence of the threat to Kiev. 6 the EU The EU has invited the USA, Canada and Norway to join the military program ’Permanent Structured Security and Defense Cooperation’. The program is aimed at the enhancement of the operational capabilities for the deployment of forces. The decision was taken in Brussels, during a meeting of the EU Council, at the level of defense ministers. According to the head of the EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, "the experience of these countries will contribute to the implementation of the project.
