Svetlodarsk came under the control of the DPR
1 The DPR The city of Svetlodarsk was liberated by the DPR forces - the HQ of the DPR territorial defense reported on the ’Telegram’. The DPR and the LPR forces, supported by the Russian forces, liberate the territory from the Ukrainian nationalists and servicemen. The total number of the liberated settlements so far is 217. On 24th of May, the mayor of the town of Debaltsevo, Igor Zaharevich, reported that the Russian flag was placed on the city hall of Svetlodarsk. The city has one of the biggest thermal power plants in Europe - the "Uglegorsk thermal power plant". 2 The DPR The DPR forces don’t plan to enter the town of Avdeevka. The town will be blocked instead - the deputy head of the People’s Militia of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, reported and added that one of the main problems with Avdeevka is that the Ukrainian forces are shelling the cities of Donetsk and Yasinovataya from the territory of the local chemical factory. He explained that the Ukrainian forces hope that the DPR forces will damage the chemical factory while firing the return fire on the Ukrainian artillery. Eduard Basurin added that the de-mining of the water area in Mariupol has been completed. Work is underway to restore the port itself. 3 Turkey Turkey wants to receive written guarantees from Finland and Sweden to resolve the conflicts before the entry of these two countries into the NATO - the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, stated and added that the demands of Ankara are related to the support from Finland and Sweden to the organizations, considered to be terrorist by Turkey. Turkey also wants to lift the weaponry embargo. The Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s presidential administration stated that Sweden was supplying weapons to the terrorists who carried out attacks on the Turkish territory. Erdgan stated that Turkey will continue to fight against the ’PKK’ and their off-shoots, despite their support from the USA and the EU. 4 Ukraine The Russian air force used high-precision air-launched missiles to destroy a division from the 14th Ukrainian mechanized brigade, and a warehouse for the American artillery guns - the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman, Igor Konashenkov, reported. 6 ammo depots near the DPR towns of Minkovka, Bahmut, Nikolayevka, Spornoe, and Krasny Liman were destroyed. "1 large ammo depot for shells for the American artillery guns М-777, in the town of Razdolovka, was destroyed as well’’ - he added. Over the past day, the Russian artillery and rocket forces hit about 700 targets of the Ukrainian nationalists. The Russian air force has done some work as well - among other targets they destroyed 1 ’Buk-M1’ AA defense vehicle, and 1 Ukrainian ’MiG-29’ aircraft. 5 The USA "The USA has set a course for the complete dismantling of international security" - Sergei Shoigu stated during a video-call of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CSTO countries. Sergei Shoigu added that the NATO is doing everything possible to make Ukraine into a hostile state for Russia. Due to the fear of the defeat of the Ukrainian forces, the West has organized the supply of lethal weapons to Kiev. Sergei Shoigu added that the West is putting pressure on the Russian allies in order to undermine the relations between the CSTO countries. The west uses threats and blackmail. Sergei Shougu added that such actions make stronger ties to be nessessary. Moscow will provide its allies with all the necessary assistance. 6 Ukraine Kherson region doesn’t plan to seek recognition of its own independence, and wants to join Russia instead - the deputy head of the military-civilian administration of the region, Kirill Stremousov, stated on 24th of May. He added that the self-determination of the region isn’t the main priority for the local authorities at the moment. According to him - it is much more important to establish a peaceful life, restore the economy, the labor market, solve a number of social issues, and to organize a functioning government. Meanwhile a dual-currency zone has been officially introduced in the Kherson region. The Russian ruble can be used together with the Ukrainian hryvnia. Starting from May, the salaries and pensions in the Kherson region will be paid in rubles. The region plans to abandon the Ukrainian currency by the end of 2022.
