1 Syria The deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Alexander Karpov, stated that the settlements of Al-Mualak, Jebel and Seida, located in the Ain Isa district of the Raqqa province, are blocked for the return of locals. He explained that the settlements were blocked by the decision of the Turkish high command "because of the fighting between the Turkish troops and the Kurdish groups". Alexander Karpov underlined that the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties calls on the command of the Turkish troops, controlling the north of Syria, to ensure the possibility of a return of civilians back to their homes. 2 Syria The inter-departmental coordination HQ of Russia and Syria jointly stated that according to the UN, in the US-controlled territory across the Euphrates River, in the Al-Hol refugee camp, there is an increase in the violence against internally displaced persons, followed by torture and public executions. "Those actions confirm the inability of Washington to ensure the security in the controlled areas of Syria" - the HQ stated. The statement specified that the main obstacles of the return of Syrian citizens to their homes are the lack of a lasting peace and the ruined local economy, both caused by the USA and their allies. The other problems are the illegal American occupation of Syria, support for the armed terrorist groups, and the economic sanctions. 3 Afghanistan The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated during a meeting aimed to resolve the situation in Afghanistan that the ISIS is trying to use the on-going armed conflict in Afghanistan to fortify their positions in the country in order to fulfil their plans on the Central Asian region. He noted that all of it creates the preconditions for the further prosperity of the drug business, which is a serious threat for Afghanistan, the region, and the whole world. It also fuels the terrorist activity to a large extent. Sergei Lavrov added that Moscow calls on Washington and the Taliban to remain committed to the peace agreement, which was signed by the parties in Doha, in February 2020. 4 Afghanistan The ’Tolo News’ TV reported that on Thursday night, a military helicopter crashed in Afghan province of Wardak, in the central part of the country. At least 9 people died. The ’TOLO News’ didn’t provide any other details. The ’RIA NEWS’ reported while citing a local resident that the helicopter was shot down by the terrorists. 5 Armenia The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, reported on Facebook that early parliamentary elections in Armenia will take place on 20th of June. The leader of the Armenian opposition political party ’Enlightened Armenia’, Edmon Marukyan, stated that in order to hold the parliamentary elections, the Prime Minister of Armenia must resign by 20th of April. He noted that after the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan, the parliament shouldn’t elect a new prime minister for 2 weeks. After that, there will be 45 days for the election campaign. 6 Russia - The USA The Russian President Vladimir Putin wished the US President Joe Biden good health in response to his recent statement. Joe Biden stated in an interview to the ’ABC’ that the Russian leadership will have to "pay the price" for the Moscow-attributed attempts to interfere in the American elections. The mass media claimed that Joe Biden, in a conversation with an ABC journalist, called Vladimir Putin a "killer". The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that the USA had led to a dead end not only their relations with Russia, but also their own ideology. The Russian Ambassador to the USA, Anatoly Antonov, was called to Moscow for the consultations to discuss "the ways to improve the crisis-ridden Russian-American relations". The vice-speaker of the Russian Federal Council, Konstantin Kosachev, stated that calling back the Russian Ambassador to the USA Anatoly Antonov for consultations might not be Moscow’s last reaction if no apology comes from Washington. “Any expectations of the new US administration for a new policy from Russia have been written off by this boorish statement” - the senator stated.
