Attack on the US military base in Syria
1 Syria On the night of 21st of October the American military base in the At-Tanf area was attacked by unknown drones. Supposedly, the attack was carried out by the pro-Iranian Shiia militia groups. A spokesman for the US command in Baghdad confirmed the attack. According to him - there were no casualties. It is still unknown if there was material damage - the TASS news agency reported. On the night of 13th to 14th of October the Israeli Air Force attacked the Syrian air base ’T-4’, in the province of Homs. The target of the Israeli aviation was the cargo, delivered to the Shiia militia fighters. The air strike was delivered from the At-Tanf area, controlled by the Americans. 2 Donbass The Ukrainian troops performed a strong shelling of the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk. 122mm and 152mm artillery pieces were used in the attack. The shelling injured an 18 years old woman and a child - the DPR office in the Joint Control and Coordination Center reported. The DPR office added that the shelling damaged four houses, one gas pipeline, and three cars. 3 Russia - Afghanistan The meeting on Afghanistan on Wednesday was attended by representatives from Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and a high-ranking delegation from the Afghan interim government. After the negotiations, the participants made a joint statement. They called on the current leadership of Afghanistan to take additional measures to form a truly inclusive government, and to have friendly policies to the neighboring countries. The meeting participants expressed a concern over the escalation of the socio-economic and humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. They called for an international donor conference under the UN flag. They added that most of the reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan should be performed by those states whose servicemen have been present in Afghanistan over the past 20 years - the TASS reported. 4 Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov, a special envoy of the Russian president for Afghanistan, and the director of the 2nd department of Asia in the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the ’Taliban’ guarantees the security of the diplomatic institutions, and not only the Russian ones. "This could happen" - he replied on a question about when the work of the Russian Consulate General in Mazari-Sharif will be resumed. "We are working on this issue via inter-departmental format. It is necessary to guarantee the resolution of the security issues". In July, Zamir Kabulov told to the ’TASS’ that the Russian Consulate General in Mazari-Sharif suspended the work due to the escalation of the situation in the north of the country. 5 The UK - Ukraine ’The Times’ reported about the negotiations of the UK and Ukraine over the ’Brimstone’ missiles. "The newspaper meant the deal, made in June" - the UK Department of Defense told to the RIA NEWS. In response to the request from the RIA NEWS to comment on the reports from ’The Times’ that the UK government is negotiating the sale of the ’Brimstone’ missiles to Ukraine - the UK Ministry of Defense stated that it was about the deal that was made public back in June of 2021, but back then the names of the missiles were not specified. ’The Times’ reported while citing a Ukrainian source that London is discussing the arms sales with Kiev. 6 Turkey - Syria The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated that if necessary - the Turkish air forces will use heavy weapons against the Syrian army in Idlib. “Military operations continue in very sensitive areas of our region. We will not back down under any circumstances. We are continuing the process in Syria. I don’t know what action the Syrian regime could take, but in Idlib we will do whatever is necessary.
