1 Syria During a briefing on Monday, the deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in Syria, Rear-Admiral Alexander Karpov, stated that the terrorist group ’Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’ is preparing to stage a chemical attack in the Idlib DMZ. The flares were fired by the Israeli military. 3 The USA - Qatar The head of the press service of the US State Department, Ned Price, stated during a briefing that the US special envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, will stay in the capital of Qatar, Doha, to continue the negotiations on the Afghan settlement. He noted that Zalmay Khalilzad will be in Doha "for a long while". Ned Price expressed his confidence that the progress on the Afghan settlement is currently possible. “We continue to urge all parties to engage constructively and swiftly in the settlement process, given that right now such progress is possible” - Ned Price concluded. 4 Russia The TASS news agency reported that a peace conference on Afghanistan is planned for 18th of March, in Moscow. This information was confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry. The spokesman of the High Council for the National Reconciliation, Freidun Hwazun, stated that the Afghan politicians, including the President Ashraf Ghani, and the High Council for the National Reconciliation - Chairman Abdullah Abdullah - were invited to attend the peace conference on Afghanistan in Russia, on 18th of March. He noted that representatives of the Taliban, and representatives of other countries have been invited to the meeting in Moscow as well. 5 Qatar On Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will meet with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in the city of Doha - the TASS news agency reported with a reference to the Russian delegation. It was noted that the meeting will take place as part of Sergei Lavrov’s trip around the Middle East. Sergei Lavrov will be received by Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Qatar, where he will hold talks with the local Foreign Minister, Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al Thani. 6 Russia - the USA The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that Russia is concerned about the announcement of the US plans to carry out cyber-attacks on the internal systems of the Russian authorities. He added that "it is an international cybercrime". Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Russia "has repeatedly stated, and still insists, that Russia has never had, and has nothing to do with any manifestations of such cyber crimes and cyber terrorism". Earlier ’The New York Times’ reported while citing their sources in the US administration that the USA plan several cyber-attacks over the next 3 weeks on the internal systems of the Russian government, in a response to an alleged hacker attack via ’SolarWinds’ software.
